H.W.F.F
Headwaters Farm and Forest is located on the St. Lawrence Continental Divide, which stretches from Newfoundland, all the way to The Hill of Three Waters in Hibbing, Minnesota, and represents the height of land where North American rivers begin flowing North. Our landscape sits directly over this divide, and as such the springs that pour from our hill form the “headwaters” of two of Vermont’s largest rivers: one which flows north, The Winooski River, and one which flows south, the White River.
We are a private club dedicated to the protection, conservation, and education of the Headwaters region—honoring both its deep geological history and its role in our environmental future.
Our mission is to maintain & propagate the integrity and health of this unique landscape, and the living water it produces.
We offer two distinct pathways for those who wish to engage with this rare landscape:
Temporary Stewards: Daily visitors to the farm staying at Headwaters Basecamp; coming to imbibe the springs, shop the store, or attend an event.
Permanent Stewards: Dedicated members of the Foundation, ensuring this land remains sequestered from development and ecologically vibrant for generations to come.
Camping
Steward one of our furnished tents along your journey, or set up your own tent on ten acres of woods, water, and wildflowers.
